History

Mount Boucherie Secondary School was originally built in 1975 when very little devleopment was on the westside. The new westside school was constructed along with the Recreation Complex and supported a joint use community plan that is still in effect today. Premier Bill Bennett, Mayor Bill Treadgold, and MLA George Whittaker joined the new staff and students in a grand opening. Several staff from the 1976 school watched the MBSS school develop a quality tradition and enjoyed the renovation in 1993 which initiated MBSS into a large scale high school.
In 1998, Mount Boucherie enrolled the last class of grade eights as the school started a transition into a senior high with grades 10-12. Loosing the grade eights and nines meant a smaller, less crowded school
Today MBSS enrolls almost 900 students. The rural tradition and the shadow of Mount Boucherie proper, inspired the moscot name Bears.
